I know, it’s be an age from the last Nerd View but it’s for a special reason: Chuck is over. After 5 great seasons, OK some weird and shitty plots in the later season, but still after 5 great seasons the show is over. I said on, what could of been the last Nerd View, that Chuck feels like it needs to come to an end and I’m glad it did, kind of, come to an end. I say kind of because those that watch the show will see there is one loose end not tied up (please god, don’t do a TV movie…) but outside of that the show did have an ending, it felt right and it felt special.
To give you a run down of the show, the first season was just superb and for than matter so was the second. By the time the third came around plot holes were becoming wider and the show stopped feeling tight. The fourth season was a low point for the show, but when compared with other “Nerd-friendly” TV shows of late, it’s still great by any standard. The last show felt like it could of ended more than once but the real end was worth it and often that’s what you need from a pay off. Bare in mind, 5 seasons means that I have been watching this show for about 5 years, in fact I did because it came on TV when I started at my current work and in that time I went from a standard to drone to a Trainer and then joined the management team.
I feel that the show being over does leave a void. These days where reality shows are king and Sci-Fi or Nerd-friendly come a far, far distance it’s hard to follow a show because you don’t know when it’ll be cancelled. Stargate Universe is a prime example, I really got into the show and then it ended after 2 seasons with a massive, unfinished ending. There was going to be a TV movie (grumble) to end the story but it never came and now wont (it was cancelled itself). At least with Chuck, it had a good run and it got a real ending…
